History

Nkana FC is one of Zambia’s oldest football clubs being formed in 1935 in Kitwe, Wusakile township. The club's performances over the years have served as an inspiration for young soccer players to strive to play the Beautiful Game at the highest level in the red colours of the ‘red devils’.

Over the years, Nkana have accumulated a record of success having won the Premier League title in 1982, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1999, 2001, the Zambian Cup 1986, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 2000 and other major owners.

The Kitwe derby

The Kitwe derby between Power Dynamos and Nkana is one of the most fiercely contested matches in African soccer, perhaps only upstaged in competitiveness by the Soweto derby (Pirates and Chiefs) in South Africa.
